Today, packed train uptown.
The Hour:
Rush.
The Crew:
Me, fighting to get out of the train; them, fighting to get into the train.
Train conductor, torso completely out of the window to watch the action: "Push! PUSH! Yo gotta push 'em if you want to get on the train! PUSH 'EM!"
An aside: I didn't realize people really do still wear fur. I though it was a sort of a thing to be opposed to in principle, not something you worried about encountering. And now I see they're so impractical-- it takes up so much room and you get fussed if people touch you--why would anyone wear them? If you're going to shell out 10 or 12 thousand dollars on a coat, take a cab and quit whining.
When my grandparents moved to NJ, my mom brought most up their stuff up piecemeal afterwards. One thing she knew my Oma would be excited to see again was her enormous fur coat. And indeed, when it was reintroduced to my Oma, she sighed "Ooh! My coatie!!" As though it were an old friend or a new baby.

Apparently in Russia the amount of fur you wear donates how wealthy you are. So you get the richest of the rich tromping about in all sorts of fur paraphernalia (do you spell it like that?) from hats to gloves to, well i can only assume undergarments.
Lisa
